Nestled right by the Orava Dam, this charming 150+ year old Slovak wooden cottage offers a unique blend of history, comfort, and breathtaking natural surroundings. Hniezdo is part of Slovakia’s cultural heritage, freshly reconstructed to preserve its charm while providing modern conveniences.

What makes Hniezdo special?

• Unique sauna experience: Relax in our one-of-a-kind sauna, housed in a vintage bus that was originally used in Budapest. It's set in the backyard, adding a playful and unexpected twist to your stay.
• Designed for families: We made Hniezdo for ourselves. As a family of four with young children (ages 2 and 5), we spend weeks here in summer and winter, ensuring the space is family-friendly and thoughtfully equipped for all ages.
• Thoughtful design: Every detail has been carefully chosen, from high-quality furnishings to unique design pieces that create a cozy yet stylish atmosphere.
• Natural wonders: Soak in the beauty of Slovak nature, right by the lake with a view of the mountains and the Bird Island, home to over 2,000 birds.

Your Space

• Traditional Slovak layout: The cottage retains the charm of a traditional Slovak home, with two rooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor, blending rustic authenticity with modern comfort.
• Living room and kitchen area: A cozy space featuring a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining table, and a comfortable couch. Perfect for cooking and gathering as a family.
• Bedroom on the ground floor: Includes one queen-size bed, a bunk bed ideal for kids, and a baby cot, ensuring comfort for families of all sizes.
• Open room upstairs: Features one queen-size bed, a futon, a working space, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Equipped with a data projector for streaming Netflix. This room also has a large window with stunning views of the lake and the backyard.
• Closable small bedroom upstairs: Contains two small beds and a foldable sofa, offering a private and flexible sleeping arrangement.
• Outdoors: a sauna (in a bus), a fire pit, a picnic table, a kayak/canoe, a hammock, a view of the lake, pine trees for hugging, a tree swing, a sandbox for children, a badminton net, a Weber gas grill, a goulash cauldron, a wooden outhouse (latrine), and blueberries (if the beavers haven’t eaten them yet).
